Skylines

A digital painting, created from an HDR image, of the Shenandoah Valley as the Sun streaks through building storm clouds. Seven exposures, with a 1 ev. spacing, produced the HDR image which was tonemapped with Photomatix Pro 4 and then fed through Pixel Bender.

Empty Chair


An HDR painting created from four exposures with a 2 ev. spacing. The images were merged and toned using Photoshop 5. Pixel Bender created the painterly effect. The images were captured in a hallway upstairs at the Big Meadows Lodge along Skyline Drive, Virginia.

The Crag


Jagged cliffs of Stony Man loom over the Shenandoah Valley. Created from seven exposures with a 1 ev. spacing, the HDR image was merged and processed with Photomatix Pro 4. Final processing in Photoshop 5.

Tom's Cove


An HDR digital painting, created from seven exposures at 1ev. spacing, was merged to HDR with Photomatix, tonemapped in PS5 and fed through Adobe's Pixel Bender. Tom's Cove, a favorite vacation spot for beach goers to the Eastern Shore, is located in Chincoteague, Virginia, USA.

Cavernous Wall


An HDR panoramic image spanning two levels inside Luray Caverns, Virginia. Created from four sets of five exposure series, with a 2 ev. spacing, the HDR images were toned and stitched as a 32 bit depth image inside Photoshop 5 and saved as a "radiance" file. Photomatix 4 was used to tonemap the final result. Further touches in Lightroom 3.

The Crawl


A fascination formation creeps around the ceiling, snaking along the top of Double Column in Giant's Hall, at Luray Caverns, Virginia.
