A dilapidated, old brick silo sprouts vegetation on a farm in Milton, Delaware. USA. From Latin Silus,
meaning Cellar, silos were developed to aid farmers in preserving their
crops over the winter months. By densely packing crops such as grain or
corn, air would be forced out of the stock producing anaerobic
conditions which prevents the growth of bacteria.
