Grass Of Assateague

Monarch butterflies litter the grass of Assateague Island, MD.. This HDR image was created from three Raw exposures with 1ev spacing. Raws were converted to Tiffs in ACR, imported into Photomatix Pro 4 to create a 32 bit HDRI and tonemapped three times. One version concentrated on a sky free of halos while another focused on detail in the sands. A third produced a "highlights and shadows map" which was used to add contrast to the sands and clouds independently. Saturation added in Lab mode. Minor adjustments in Lightroom 3.

Camera- Canon 50D, Tripod mounted
Lens- EF 24-70mm 2.8L USM @ 34mm
Settings- f/22, 1/125th (median), ISO 100
